While the “minerals matrix” (calcium, phosphorus, and sometimes sodium) for phytase is widely accepted in commercial feed formulation, the adoption of a “full nutrient and energy matrix” (including amino acids and metabolizable energy) varies across the industry.

The trend is moving towards full matrix application due to proven economic, performance, and sustainability benefits, but several factors hold producers back.

Many operations still apply only the mineral matrix for phytase. Wider adoption of a full nutrient and energy matrix is often limited by confidence and data consistency, particularly variability in raw materials, enzyme response, and validation under commercial conditions. As more robust field data, digestibility trials, and performance benchmarks become available, confidence to safely unlock the full matrix will continue to grow.

Farmers can manage summer algal blooms by adopting a multi-layered approach that prioritizes nutrient control and physical intervention. The most effective long-term strategy involves reducing phosphorus and nitrogen runoff through buffer strips, vegetated zones that filter agricultural drainage, and precision fertilizer application. During active blooms, farmers can employ physical methods such as aeration systems to disrupt the stagnant water conditions algae prefer, or use EPA-approved algaecides like copper sulfate for immediate reduction. Additionally, introducing ultrasonic devices or biological controls, such as barley straw, which releases growth-inhibiting chemicals as it decomposes, can provide sustainable maintenance for farm ponds and irrigation sources.

1- Water is the main source of life to the fishes and it provide energy flow

2- PH 7.5-8.5 depending of type of fish.

    3- Temperature is species dependent.

    4- Alkalinity 50-300ppm

    5- Dissolved Oxygen >4.0 gm/l

    6- Ammonia 0.-0.5ppm

    7- Nitrite <1ppm

    8- Hardness 40-400ppm

9- Water exchange is subject to type of feed a farmer is using and how quick they affect it.

10- Type ot water system either flow through or drain and restore/RAS.

Before liming a pond, the water temperature should ideally be above 10°C (50°F) to ensure the lime dissolves effectively and the chemical reaction occurs at an efficient rate. Applying lime when temperatures are too low can lead to poor solubility and delayed results in adjusting the pond’s alkalinity and pH. Furthermore, liming is most effective when performed in the late fall or winter, while the pond is still at a stable, cool temperature but before it freezes, allowing the lime to settle and react with the bottom sediments before the peak growing season in spring.

The main objective of poultry feed formulation is to create a balanced, palatable, and cost-effective diet that meets the precise nutritional requirements (energy, protein, vitamins, minerals) of birds at different life stages.
