Feed Milling With Dr. Kim Koch

Moisture

How can I manage moisture levels in complete feed without directly adding water to the mixer, especially under dry environmental conditions (>30°C)? Specifically, how much moisture can be introduced via steam during conditioning, and what should be the recommended steam pressure before and after the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) to ensure optimal steam penetration and enhanced pellet quality in a corn–soybean-based diet?

You can add 2% to 6% moisture to the feed, depending on steam<strong data-start=”458″ data-end=”488″ style=”font-size: inherit;”> quality (saturation), Conditioning time and temperature, Feed composition and Initial moisture content of the mash
