Lack of feathers could be due to the annual moult (late summer/autumn) on any part of the body. Missing feathers at the tail could be due to other hens pulling them out due to mineral deficiency or stress.

An aggressive posture typically includes concentrated and direct eye contact with the head slightly lowered. The hackle (neck) feathers may be raised along with other feathers on the body to give the chicken a bigger, more imposing look.

The most common disease that affects wild turkeys is avian pox, which is an infectious and contagious virus that causes lesions mostly on the head, legs, and feet.

Inward neck withdrawal and raising of neck feathers in turkeys can be signs of illness, stress, or discomfort. These symptoms often indicate respiratory issues, infections, or systemic stress.

Fowl cholera can be prevented with good biosecurity practices, such as: Separating birds by age, Cleaning and disinfecting after each flock, Properly disposing of mortality, and Having an effective rodent control program
