Clean the bedding once a week or once a month, depending on the depth of the layer. You can use the deep litter method, which involves layering organic matter like pine shavings on the floor to insulate the chickens in cold weather.
Clean the coop regularly, especially when you see dirt, dust, cobwebs, or feces. You can use window cleaners or general purpose cleaners, but avoid ammonia, which is harmful to chickens’ lungs.
