Ring die mills need finer, uniform raw materials. Using a continuous grinding and mixing system helps improve efficiency and stability. For small pellet mills, crush coarse materials like hay or corn cobs to 2-5mm first to avoid blockages and improve pellet formation.
If your raw materials are mainly grass powder or shells, mix in corn flour, wheat bran, or soybean meal, and use dies with holes of 6mm or larger. Using only coarse materials without mixing will likely cause blockages. For ring die mills, adjust the die compression ratio and conditioning time.

- Roller vibration causes inconsistent or stopped output.
- Frequent blockages that require cleaning.
- Lower pellet efficiency, reduced molding rate, and higher load.
- Large particles blocking the screw feeder and buildup in the die chamber (for ring die feed pellet mill die).
- low steam supply

Please share your experience on pellet mill die choking issues & its control measures at your respective feed mills

Obtaining a Molasses License for use in a feed mill (especially in Tamil Nadu) involves applying through the Excise Department, since molasses is a controlled by-product of the sugar industry and regulated under the Tamil Nadu Molasses Control and Regulation Rules, 1958.
Below is a step-by-step guide:
________________________________________
🧾 1. Purpose of License
Molasses contains fermentable sugars and can be diverted for alcohol production, so government approval is mandatory even for industrial (feed) use.
Feed mills require a Molasses Possession and Consumption License (Form-B) for using it as a raw material.

⚙️ 2. Licensing Authority
• Issuing Authority:
The District Collector / Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise (through the District Prohibition and Excise Officer).
• Regulatory Law:

Generally, light-weight breeds are more heat tolerant than heavy breeds.
Some of the light weight breeds are Minorca, Aseel, Ancona, Leghorn, Naked neck etc
Native chicken breeds tolerate well than broiler/layer strains used for commercial production

Nutrition plays a crucial and multifaceted role in managing and mitigating the effect of heat stress.

There most improvement provided the nutrition content of the pellets or crumbles is within expectation.

Passive immunization or serum therapy is generally not considered as safe or feasible in poultry as-
1. Provides short duration of protection
2. Risk of transmitting other pathogens
3. Difficulties in collecting & standardising adequate serum quantities from birds
