It is very important to plan and having a sustainable fish / shrimp farming operation.
It involves a number of steps, point-wise mentioned below,
1. Suitable site selection
2. Efficient designing of farm – ponds and associated facilities with best utilization of land
3. Water source and quality management
4. Good pond preparation
5. Effective soil management
6. Quality seed selection
7. Improved stocking methodologies
8. Feed selection and effective feeding
9. Nutrition management
10. Water quality management during culture
11. Waste management during culture
12. Fish / Shrimp health management
13. Bio-security measures
14. Harvesting
15. Post harvest handling
16. Economics calculation
17. Social sustainability
18. Record keeping and analyzing the data
19. Certification
20. Continuous improvement
Each of theses above mentioned points are having its elaboration with various alternatives and aspects, can be discussed separately as required?
Please mention as finds useful and / or need more clarification.

Some of the practices that farmers rely on include:
- Building a healthy soil system.
- Taking steps to prevent erosion.
- Profitability.
- Integrating a water management system.
- Remaining conscious of carbon emission.
- Increasing resilience to disease, insects, and extreme weather.
- Embracing biodiversity and rotating crops.
-
Seven primary steps—planning, soil preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and marketing—work together to produce high-quality crops, maintain soil health, conserve resources, and fulfill market demand.

<strong data-start=”1713″ data-end=”1741″>1. Planificación y aviso
<ul data-start=”1742″ data-end=”1986″>
<strong data-start=”1988″ data-end=”2015″>2. Equipos y materiales
<ul data-start=”2016″ data-end=”2263″>
<strong data-start=”2265″ data-end=”2285″>3. Procedimiento
<ul data-start=”2286″ data-end=”2519″>
<strong data-start=”2521″ data-end=”2551″>4. Ventilación y reingreso
<ul data-start=”2552″ data-end=”2789″>
<strong data-start=”2791″ data-end=”2816″>5. Manejo de residuos
<ul data-start=”2817″ data-end=”2926″>

MemberOctober 23, 2025 at 2:48 pm in reply to: Water Quality Management – Carbon Nitrogen Ratio – Importance & ManagementDear all as you must have gone through and we also discussed in length during course & Q & A session, that Carbon Nitrogen ratio is having good importance in maintaining pond water ecology. Now let us take this discussion forward for benefitting all the members of group,
1. What’s importance of carbon nitrogen ratio maintenance in normal pond culture?
2. What’s role of carbon and how is it become available in the pond?
3. Advisable Carbon Nitrogen (C:N) ratio in the normal culture?
4. What are the sources of adding up nitrogen to the dynamic pond culture?
5. How does this C:N ratio maintenance in culture ponds helps supporting fish / shrimp health?
Please mention your reply point-wise which ever for you are knowing and same time feel free to mention your point in case any additional to mentioned above 5 points.

Good to see your participation by appreciating the knowledge contribution of other fellow members.
Now I request you to go further and tell something about yourself,
1. how are you associated with Aquaculture,
2. which all species are you handling and
3. what type of culture patterns do you follow
4. what more improvement and betterment you are targeting and looking forward
Let’s have more of active and useful participation and knowledge sharing.
