ENERGY IS GOING TO BE THE KEY DRIVER OF POULTRY/LIVESTOCK BUSINESS IN THE UPCOMING DECADE!

Profitability was driven by volatility in protein ingredient prices for a very long time, however that is going to change. Energy is the primary necessity for fast growing birds like broilers as well as long living production birds like layers & breeders. Efficient energy throughput affects feed cost which is a major part of input cost and therefore determines profitability

Poultry industry around the world has clocked a double digit growth rate over the past decade. It is an industry that is technologically more developed & fast adapts to newer technology that improves bird performance. With the speedy growth & and good returns on investment it is an alluring project. Consumer demands are increasing and are sometimes supply fails to complete the demand (especially in developing or under developed nations).

Newly hatched chicks cannot maintain their body temperatures for the first 2 weeks. Brooding is essentially a bridge between hatching and independent life as it encompasses the early development of chicken gut & immunity.

Consumers are not familiar with the taste or availability of ostrich meat; therefore very low demand. On the other hand it is capital intensive to rear and market ostrich meat/eggs! Has anyone here tasted ostrich meat?
