Poultry producers in Nigeria are grappling with a host of challenges that threaten the viability of their operations. These challenges include soaring production costs driven by the reliance on expensive (and sometimes) imported feed ingredients, insecurity and high energy expenses. Insecurity is a big problem.

Some feeds, such as pasture grasses, hay and silage crops, and certain cereal grains, are grown specifically for animals. Other feeds, such as sugar beet pulp, brewers’ grains, and pineapple bran, are by-products that remain after a food crop has been processed for human use.

The necessary tests should be conducted at each stage to ensure quality output. Whenever you notice any problem at any stage, try rectifying it as it would affect all latter stages of production.

if i remember correctly there is the

    1. Integrated feed mill: where the feed mill operates to produce just what would be used on a farm.

    2. Commercial feed mill: they produce on a large scale for sale to other farmers and not for their use.
